Makar, Kim Marie
Kim Marie Makar, a lifelong Yonkers, NY resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 8, 2013 at the age of 39. Born on December 25, 1973 to Leo and Marie Makar, she was a Christmas baby. She attended Saint Casimir's Elementary School in Yonkers and, subsequently, graduated from Good Counsel Academy in White Plains, NY in 1991. She matriculated at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY where she met her beloved husband, Robert, during their freshman year. She graduated in 1995 with a degree in accounting. Kim went on to receive an MBA from New York University
's Stern School of Business in 2001 with concentrations in management and finance. For the past seven years, Kim worked in the Internal Audit Division of AIG in New York City. She was most recently a senior manager in that group. Prior to AIG, she had worked for JPMorgan Chase since graduation from Fordham. In addition to her husband, Robert J. McGrath, she is survived by her father, Leo, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her/her husband's three godsons. She is predeceased by her mother, Marie, who entered eternal life in 1987. Kim was an avid traveler and had visited destinations on six continents. She had also enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the Jersey Shore since she was a child. An enthusiast of the arts, Kim enjoyed the theatre and cabaret, as well as film and music festivals across the country. She enjoyed expanding her culinary interests even to the point of being a taste-tester of her husband's adventures into baking. Kim was full of life and passionate about everything that she did. Her smile, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be missed by all those who knew her. To celebrate and honor Kim's life, family and friends will gather on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Home, 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday 10am at the Church of Saint Casimir in Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Kim actively supported a number of children's charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and
