Larry Saposnick passed away on March 10th, 2014, with family by his side. Born in Brooklyn to Samuel Saposnick and Betty Marder, he proudly served his country in the US Army Special Services during the Korean War. Larry graduated City College on the GI bill and worked for the New York City Board of Education, where he taught PE during his 30+year career. In 1958, he married Eileen "Cookie" Brown, and by 1965, had four daughters and a lovely home in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. In 1972 Larry moved to New City, Rockland County with his family, and then to Pomona in 1980, where he resided ever since. Throughout his adult life, he was also known and loved as piano entertainer "Larry Martin" both in the Catskills and around Rockland, bringing the joy of music into the lives of all he touched. He is survived by ex-wife Cookie Silverman, daughters Sami O'Reilly, Jodi Balsam, Kali Van Campen and Lori Swift, grandchildren Michele, Molly & Will Balsam, Dani Imperato, Elias and Dmitri Swift. A memorial service will be held at Hellman Memorial Chapel, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY 845-356-8600 at 1:30 pm on Sunday March 16th, followed by a short reception at Ocean Empire Restaurant.
