Scrocco, Mae Louise

Mae Louise Scrocco, beloved, died peacefully May 8, 2013. Mae was born in Hornell, NY on July 13, 1925 to Dr. J. Raymond and Ora Kelly. She graduated from Hornell HS in 1943 and in 1947 from Marymount College, Tarrytown, with a BA in Biology. Mae then interned and worked as a lab technician at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, NY. On Sept. 13, 1951, she married George L. Scrocco, also of Hornell. She returned to work in 1970 and retired from the Nyack Hospital Laboratory after 20 years. As a resident of Pearl River and parishioner of St. Margaret's since 1957, Mae was a member of the Rosary Altar Society since 1973, and was also a member of the Catholic Laywomen's Study Club of Rockland County, until it disbanded in 2003. Predeceased by her husband, George and daughter, Louise, she is survived by Regina, Raymond (Carol, Kelly, & John), Anne (Mark, Nicholas, & Peter Pittinger), Mary Ellen (Steven, Elizabeth, Charles, & Charlotte Martindale). Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday at the Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 am at St. Margaret's Church, with interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the world's children in need to The Holy Child Association, 1011 First Ave. #1701, New York, NY 10022.
