Sister Martha Cummings, S.C. (formerly Sr. James Carmita) entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1955. She died at the Convent of Mary the Queen on February 16, 2014. Sr. Martha taught at St. Raymond in the Bronx; Sacred Heart, Manhattan; and St. Barnabas Elementary in the Bronx, where she also served as Assistant Principal. After becoming a nurse, Sr. Martha ministered at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Bellevue Hospital. She then served the Sisters of Charity as Administrator at the Convent of Mary the Queen and the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt as Administrator of the St. Dominic Convent Infirmary. Sr. Martha is predeceased by her sister Madeline Lovett. She is survived by her nephew John Lovett (Maureen) and her niece Martha Cesaitis (Edward) and grand nieces and nephews.

Wake - Tuesday, February 18, 2-8 PM with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM; Funeral Mass - Wednesday, February 19 at 10:30 AM, both at the Convent of Mary the Queen, Yonkers, NY.
