Michael Davitt 5/4/1926- 11/11/2012Michael Davitt,86, of Palenville,NY died Monday,Veteran's Day at Kingston Hospital. Born in Belmullet, County Mayo,Ireland in 1926 .He is survived by two sisters Cecelia Gallagher of Palenville and Nora Lynam of County Mayo,Ireland.Michael served his country proudly as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War.He was a combat veteran,who received a Purple Heart,the Korean Service Medal and 2 Bronze Stars for his service.Mike was a member of the American Legion Post# 199 in Spring Valley for over 24 years. He was a successful owner of Davitt's Bar and Grill in Jackson Heights,Queens,prior to his retirement.Michael,formerly of Monsey,NY was a long term parishioner of St Boniface's Church.Mike was a widower,who was predecessor by his beloved wife,Hannah (a.k.a. Joan) O'Sullivan Davitt and many brothers and sisters.Michael is survived by nine of his children: Mary and (Sam) Pesner of Huntersville,NC; Marge Davitt of Washingtonville,NY; Joan and (Robert) Zeller of Suffern,NY; Michael and(Flora) Davitt of Garnerville,NY;John Davitt and his fiancé Cyndi Watson of Apex,NC;Eileen and (Greg )Spak of Washingtonville,NY;Patricia Davitt-Petro and her husband,Fred Petro of New Windsor,NY;Cathleen Davitt -Barenburg and her husband,Randy Barenburg of Plymouth,Mn.Michael's beloved surviving grandchildren are: Timmy,Brian,Matt,Jessica,Christine,Ben, Sean,Jeremy,Shelby,Chris,Zach,Mackenzie,Olivia,Anthony,Grayson and Hannah.Calling Hours will be Thursday,November 15th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home located at 139 Jefferson Heights,Catskills,NY 12414. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am on Friday,November 16 at Sacred Heart -Immaculate Conception Church located at 710 Route 32A Palenville,N.Y.12463In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Disabled Veteran's of America can be made.
