Paul Kazura, 71, a lifelong Hastings-on-Hudson resident died peacefully on April 10, 2014 surrounded by family and close friends. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny) of 46 years; his daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Dermot O'Brien; his daughter, Donna, and son-in-law, Matt Gavagan; his son, Rusty, and daughter-in-law, Maureen (Piccoli); and his brothers, Peter and Billy. He enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, Michael, Aidan, Sara, Shane, Grace and Elise.
Paul was born to Sara and Peter Kazura on March 11, 1943. He grew up with older brother, Peter, and younger brother, Billy. Paul attended the Hastings Public Schools and enjoyed basketball and golf. He served honorable in the United States Army
as a Military Police Officer
and was stationed in Germany from 1963-1965. When he returned to civilian life, he briefly worked at Anchor Motor Freight before joining the Hastings Police Department. He served as a police officer and detective on the Hastings Police Department for 21 years. In his "retirement" he enjoyed spending much time with his wife, family and friends in his vacation home in Montauk. He was an active member of the Tower Ridge Yacht Club, The Hastings Southside Athletic Club, and the Hastings PBA. Other time was spent doing various home improvements with longtime friends.
