Rivera, Regina Faye
Regina Faye Rivera of Putnam Valley, NY, died on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, with her parents by her side. She fought a fearless and inspirational fight against breast cancer. She was 34. Regina is survived by her parents, Carol (Cifichiello) Rivera and Carmen L. Rivera, siblings, Roberta and Eric, her loving family and friends, and several godchildren. Regina was predeceased by her grandparents, Rose and Fred Cifichiello and Lucia and Generoso Rivera, all of Harrison, NY.
Regina was born on June 9, 1978 in Mount Kisco, NY, and enjoyed her childhood in Putnam Valley. Regina played many varsity sports, including basketball, track & field and volleyball for Walter Panas High School and Dominican College. She earned an accounting degree in 2000 and was inducted into the Dominican College Alumni Hall of Achievement in 2010 for outstanding service to the college and its community. She was also featured as one of Dominican College's 100 Alumni of Distinction. Regina was the Accounting Manager for Insight Communications and previously worked with EMI Records. She was a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications. Regina was a devoted and award-winning fundraiser for the
, Gilda's Club and Support Connection. Regina was admired by those who were motivated by the courageous and gracious way she faced cancer-always positive about a solution, never giving in. Her life will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The Rivera family will be receiving friends Friday, August 3, at the Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 E. Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY, (914) 962-0700. Calling hours on Friday will be 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012, 11:00 AM at St. Columbanus Church, 122 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY.
