Williams, Rev. Susanna E.

The Rev. Susanna E. Williams, after a long and brave battle with breast cancer. Born December 5, 1953 in Waterbury, CT. A graduate of the General Theological Seminary, Susanna was ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in 1988. She began her career first as Assistant, then as Priest in Charge, of Christ Church in New Brunswick, NJ. For more than 20 years, she was rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Yonkers, NY. During her tenure at St. John's, she also established and led the parish's Butler Nursery School. Awarded the Bishop's Cross by the Episcopal Diocese of New York in 2010, Susanna also served on the Ethics Committee at Lawrence Hospital, and was active in the Yonkers Council of Churches. Adored and respected as a pastor and preacher, she was also an esteemed writer, and a lover of music and arts. She was a dedicated mother and a loyal friend. She is survived by her devoted children Joseph Slater and Jessie Slater (John Piteo), her beloved grandson Coda Slater-Piteo, sister Donna DeWitt and faithful companions, her dogs Binni and Roo.
