Colorito, Rocco "Rocky"

Rocco (Rocky) Colorito passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013 at the age of 92. His boyhood was spent on Nyack and, after living in Haverstraw, he moved to West Haverstraw, where he built his home in 1960. He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years Rita. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Rocky began his life's work as a carpenter, first as a union carpenter, later at Iona Island, and eventually retiring from West Point. He was an active member of several organizations. The Leo Laders Post of the American Legion, the Knights Of Columbus, the Italian American Club, and the Senior Citizens Clubs of Haverstraw and West Haverstraw. He was also a parishioner and usher at St. Peter's Church in Haverstraw for many years. He is survived by daughter Virginia of Saratoga, son John (Ruth), grandchildren Michael and Gianna of Georgia, sister Margie DiCandia of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9pm on Sunday, April 21 at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday, April 22 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Church in Haverstraw, with burial at the Fred Loescher Veteran's Cemetery.
