Ronald Louis Gianazza, of Hawthorne, NY, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2013. Ronald (Lou) was born on January 21, 1935 in Yonkers NY to Josephine Irene (Allard) and Louis James Gianazza. He grew up in Yonkers where he attended Roosevelt High School. After high school, Ronald (Lou) joined the US Navy where he proudly served from 1952 to 1956 aboard both the USS Roanoke CL-145 and the USS Worcester CL -144. In 1957 Roanld (Lou) began working for NY Telephone Co. where he met the love of his life, Hazel Harpe (operator # 144, Melrose Central Office, Bronx, NY). Ronald (Lou) and Hazel married on July 26, 1959 and moved to Hawthorne where they lovingly raised their family, Ronald (Lou) retired from NY Telephone Co. / Verizon in 1992 after 40 years of dedicated service. Ronald (Lou) was a proud member of the American Legion for 56 years. He had a zest for life and found fun in all he did. He was active with Pop Warner Football, Sherman Park Little League and was an avid Giants football and Rangers hockey fan. With all that he accomplished in his life, his greatest pride was his passion for his wife and family.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Hazel Gianazza of Hawthorne NY. Daughter Laura Pavesi and husband Teddy of Apex, NC. Son Ronald Louis Gianazza Jr. and wife Kerri of Mahopac, NY as well as two cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Karlissa of Apex, NC. He is also survived by his sister Lucille Fowler-Mullin of Yonkers, NY, brother James Gianazza and wife Sharon of Yorktown Heights, NY, along with several loving nieces, nephews and his beloved cat "Mr. Grey".

The family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Beecher Funeral Home 418 Bedford Road Pleasantville, New York on Tuesday February 12, 2013. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 10:00am at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, New York.
