Rosalie Katherine Doerre, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed on March 31, 2013 - Easter Sunday. Wife of George; Mother and Mother-in-law of George and Barbara of Poughkeepsie, NY - with children George of Union City, NJ and Teresa of New York City; John and Deborah of Newburgh, NY - with children Cailin of Newburgh and Mallory of Newburgh; and Mark and Olivia of Lexington, KY - with children Samantha of Lexington and Richard of Lexington, and grandchild Lilly; Sister of Frances Sigillito of East Greenwich, RI, and Lucy Comenzo (predeceased); Sister-in-law of Alice McGrath of Dunedin, FL.

Rosalie was born on April 7, 1925 to Federico (Fred) and Fortunata (Mary) Guarino, in Brooklyn. She attended Walton High School in the Bronx, becoming skilled in the administrative and secretarial skills that served her in her career, which spanned several jobs in New York City before coming to the Nanuet School District, where she served for 25 years as secretary to four different Superintendents of the District. She loved being in a workplace dedicated to children.

On June 11, 1950, she married George William Doerre, also of New York City, and they made a life for themselves and their children in the City, before moving to Nanuet fifty years ago.

The biggest love of Rosalie's life was her family. She loved and treasured all of her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, and loved to bake for family occasions. Her cakes and pies had no equal.

After Rosalie's retirement, she and George were rarely apart. They would summer in New Berlin, NY at their second home, where George painted and showed his art. They would have headed up to New Berlin this month, to stay for another summer season.

Rosalie's family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Thursday morning 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Nanuet. Burial will at Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. Remembrances may be made to the Children's Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center.
