Sforzo, Stephen J.

Stephen J. Sforzo, 87, passed away on June 10, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, the son of the late Michael and Maria Sforza. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Sforzo; daughters, Patricia Sforzo, Diane Petraglia and husband Liberato, and Rosemary Worum and husband Viggo. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Kristina, Kimberli, Nicole, Johan, Anthony and his wife Andrea, Vincent and his wife Alison; four great-granddaughters and his nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his sisters, Bella and Dorothy.

Stephen was one of the Nation's finest, who answered the call of our country and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the U.S. Naval Reserve. While serving, he earned the American Theatre, European Theatre and Victory Medals. He was Past-Commander in Yonkers, Post #2431, and a lifetime member of Florida Post #3282. He retired in 1982 from Western Electric after service of 38 years.

Stephen will be remembered for his fishing, crabbing, cooking, bowling, card playing, cruising, family vacations, artistic talents, puzzle making, jokes and love for the ocean.

A memorial mass will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 10 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Congers, NY; followed by burial at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
