Thomas E. Desmond of West Nyack, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the age of 77. Thomas was born in Queens, NY on May 2, 1936 to Gerard and Estella (McBride) Desmond. He served in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean War
and was employed at American Tack & Hardware in Monsey.
On October 18, 1959, he married Victoria Colorito at St. Ann's Church in Nyack, NY. Thomas was the 2nd Vice-President and Past Secretary for the Korean War Veterans and was involved with sending care packages to the troops in Iraq. He was also a member of American Legion - Willis Polhemus Post #9215 in Upper Nyack and the West Nyack Seniors II. He had just become an Ambit Rep.
He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria, his devoted children, Michael and his wife Judith, Victoria-Jean Center and her husband Joseph and Dominic and his wife Tanya, his 5 cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Hannah, Sarah, Tyler and Emily and his sister, Estelle Sammar.
Visiting Hours will be Friday, July 5 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 Parrott Rd., West Nyack, NY. Internment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Thomas' name to the Korean War Veterans Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 304, New City, NY 10956.
