Winifred "Winnie" Hoffenberg of Irvington passed away on June 1, 2013. She was 97 years old. She was born in London, England on September 25, 1915. During WWII
, Winnie served in the British Services where she met her husband, Karl Hoffenberg, who was stationed in London setting up and working on the U S Armed Forces Radio. She was assigned to work with him and they worked together throughout the war. They were married on March 12, 1947 in California. They lived in California before moving to Dobbs Ferry and then Irvington in 1967. Karl worked at NBC for over 30 years. He passed away in 1987. Winnie was a homemaker who raised two daughters, Pam Hohlweck and Debbie Morgan. She volunteered at Dobbs Ferry Hospital, was active in the Garden Club and enjoyed playing golf and tennis with her many friends. She spent many wonderful hours at the Irvington Senior Center playing bridge and bingo and enjoying the special luncheons.
In accordance with Winnie's wishes a private remembrance will be held.
