Lawrence Mooney Obituary
Reverend Brother Lawrence Jude Mooney C.F.C. passed away on November 16, 2013. Born on July 21, 1934 in the Bronx, NY, the son of James and Annie Noone Mooney. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on September 5, 1951 taking his first vows on September 8, 1953 and final vows on June 27, 1960. After attending St. John Chrysostom and Rice High School, he received his BS in Chemistry from Iona College in 1956 and his MS in Chemistry from the Notre Dame University in 1966. His ministry took him to many positions including Holy Cross School in St. John's Canada, Br. Rice School in Chicago, IL, Iona Prep, New Rochelle, NY, Boys Central High School, Butte, MT, Tertianship Renewal Program, Rome, Italy, Damien Memorial High School, Honolulu, HI, Leo High School Chicago, IL, St. Lawrence High School Burbank, IL, Western American Province Novitiate Community Joliet, IL, Br. Rice High School Birmingham, MI, Christian Brothers Formation Centre Chicago, IL, St. Boniface High School Kimberley, S. Africa, Waterford Formation Community Mt. Vernon, NY and St. Joseph's Residence in New Rochelle. Brother Mooney was Provincial of the Br. Rice, Western Province, of the Christian Brothers. He is survived by one sister: Mary Agnes Klein; two brothers: James and Francis Mooney and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Annie and James Mooney, a sister-in-law Betty Mooney and one grandniece Emily Domzalski. A wake will be held at St. Joseph Care Center, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Avenue, New Rochelle, NY on Friday at 9:30 AM. Internment to follow at Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Residence.

Larry was a dear friend of mine for 32 years mostly in the Chicago area. I will miss him but know he will his Lord say "Well done my faithful servant".
