Theodore Canellas Obituary
Theodore "Ted" Canellas of Tarrytown, (formerly of Millwood, NY) passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He was 83 years of age. Ted was born on May 23, 1933, the son of Michael and Evelyn (Antoniadou) Canellas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Irene; loving daughters Electra (Bruce), Christina (Steven); sisters Kathryn and Frances; and his adoring grandchildren, Sophia, Georgianna, Rosemary, Theodore, Timothy, Christopher and Alexander. Ted proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962. After graduating from Fordham University in 1954, with a B.S. in Pharmacy, he began his career as a pharmacist. He first worked at Burroughs Wellcome pharmaceutical company in Tuckahoe and later became owner/operator of Schoonmaker Medical Pharmacy in Scarsdale, NY where he remained until his retirement. His greatest achievement by far was being a loving and devoted husband, father and "Papou" to his seven grandchildren. His family meant everything to him. He will be deeply missed. A private funeral service was held by the family on Sunday, April 23.

I learned through a random check on the Internet that my former friend Terry Canellas of Walton Avenue in the Bronx has passed away. We were classmates in public school, attended a YMCA camp in 1947, and my sister was close friends with his sisters Kathryn and "Fifi." I remember the small shop his father and uncle owned and operated on Jerome Avenue; our mothers were also close friends. My condolences to the family. I also mourn the passage of time and how friends are separated.

Mr. Canellas leaves a lasting legacy through his beautiful daughters and grandchildren. His gentle spirit will not be forgotten.
