Jaime Recabo Obituary

Recabo, Jaime M.

Attorney Jaime Miguel Recabo, age 66, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by members of his loving family, on October 20, 2016 in Mohegan Lake, NY. Jaime was born on October 6, 1950 to Matias and Luisa Recabo in Manila, the Philippines. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at the San Jose Seminary in Manila and emigrated to the United States in 1969 to attend Fordham University in New York City, from which he earned his B.A. in 1973. He later earned his M.B.A. from St. John's University in Queens, NY in 1977. He worked at Eger Nursing Home in Staten Island and the Jewish Home & Hospital in the Bronx, before serving as Chief Financial Officer for the Franciscan Health System of New York for over ten years. He received his J.D. from Fordham University in 1988, after which he opened his own immigration law practice. In all the years since, it is estimated that Jaime has helped thousands of people from all over the world to improve their life circumstances by ensuring their ability to successfully live, work, and learn in the United States. From ensuring that thousands of highly qualified nurses were able to care for patients in need throughout the US to enabling specially skilled drivers and technicians to share their craft with the racing world in the US, Jaime impacted so many.

Jaime had a range of passions that included motorsports, music, ballroom dancing, and education; all of which planted fruitful seeds in his six children. Jaime was an avid car hobbyist for most of his adult life, and had many friends in the motorsports world. He loved to visit car shows, go for long Sunday drives in his various "car toys" (which he always customized to satisfy his unique sense of style), and he participated in all sorts events, including the One Lap of America and spectating at international motorsports races whenever he could.

Jaime will be joyfully remembered for his incredible memory, varied music interests, suave moves on the dancefloor with his beloved Maureen, debonair fashion sense, charming sense of humor, and most of all, his brilliant smile. He is survived by his wife, Maureen; children, James Recabo, Danielle Betancourt, Matthew Recabo, Maura Recabo, Joseph Recabo, and Olivia Recabo; grandchildren, Katlin and Abigail Recabo, Andreas and Gabriel Betancourt, and Christopher Sauber; as well as his siblings, Josephine Regalia, Essie Krish, Gus Recabo, Grace Recabo, Tessie Recabo, and Nida Recabo.

Visiting Hours will be at Clark Funeral Home, 2104 Saw Mill River Road, Yorktown Heights, NY on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. His funeral is scheduled for 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak, NY on Monday, October 24, 2016. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jaime's life. The family would like to thank all of the dedicated caregivers who touched his life in the last five years since his initial diagnosis, especially his dearest and best friend, Maureen.
