Albert 'Artie' Pike, 91, of Dutchtown-Haverstraw and New City, died Sunday 13 Oct 2013.

He was born to the late Yetta and Louis Pike April, 1922 in Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY. Artie graduated Tilden High School, attended City College NY from 1942-1944 graduating from NYU, 1947 - BA in English Literature. He was always working from childhood on, from shining shoes to selling newspapers to sewing for his father's business. He finally settled into the printing industry in NYC with brothers Milton, Howard and the late Calvin Pike. He took great pride in his expertise in commercial and fine art lithography.

In 1958, Artie married the love of his life Natalie Wolman Pike. They raised their family together in Baldwin, Bayside and finally New City, NY. As a widower, Artie moved to Dutchtown to enjoy the Hudson River's beauty. During retirement, he kept active gardening, reading, writing poetry, cooking and bragging about his grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Jon Pike and his wife Miharu, Seth Pike, Hildee Pike Ryan and husband Paul, step children Robert Friedstein and Louisa Plump; grandchildren: Michael Plump, Pamela Plump Bergstrom, Rachel and Suzanne Friedstein, JC and Jonny Pike, Thomas and Nicaela Ryan; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Caraline Bergstrom. Another daughter, Rachael Pike predeceased him. He is also survived by his two brothers, Milton and Howard.

A funeral service will be held at Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack on Tuesday at 10 AM, followed by burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Fairview, NJ. The family will be observing Shiva at the home of Hildee Ryan, 1 Windgate Drive, New City, NY 10956 on Tuesday following the service, Wednesday from 1-4PM and 6-9PM, Thursday from 1-4PM and 6-9PM and Friday from 1-4PM.
