Stanley Kowalski Obituary

Kowalski, Stanley C.

Stanley Charles Kowalski, Sr., passed away on July 24, 2013 after a brief illness at the age of 90. He was born on April 8, 1923 in The Bronx, NY, and a 50 year resident of Stony Point, NY.

Stanley was a decorated World War II veteran, receiving the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He served in the US Army Air Corps, 27th Squadron, 6th division. His squadron flew B-29's based in Tinian and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He served for 37 years in the Fire Department of New York, retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary, and his children, Denise Galante of Smithfield, VA, Stanley Kowalski Jr. and wife Karen of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Janice Kowalski of Juno Beach, FL, Christine Pearl and husband Jeff of Newburgh, NY and Adrianne Tewksbury of Pomona, NY. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Kyle, Jeremy, Stacy, Timothy, Nicole, Sarah, and Andrew, and a great-grandson, Nikolai Allen.

He was a communicant of St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, a founding member of the North Rockland Social Club and an accomplished golfer.

The family will be receiving condolences at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville, NY on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St Gregory Barbarigo Church. A celebration of his life with family and friends will follow. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stony Point Ambulance Corps and to Good Samaritan Hospital.

How are you doing Chief? No more pain, suffering or disappointment. I'll see you soon, just like I promised. I'm sure Mom is doing fine. She did her best. The others? I'm not so sure. Take care, Your Son and Only.

My thoughts and prayers are with your Family during this difficult time. May your great memories help you during this time of great loss. I personally remember having great times vacationing at the Jersey Shore with your family and other NR families. Just a few weeks ago while on vacation with my family drove to Melody Lane in Ocean Beach and the year we rented homes there was such great fun.
