Joan Russ-McMullin Obituary
Mrs. Joan H. Russ-McMullin, age 73, was called to the lord at Robert Yeager Health Center in Pomona, NY, on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Born October 14, 1938, in Rockville Center, NY, as Joan Helena Russ the daughter of Late Nelson Russ and Gladys Russ. Joan was employed at AT&T as a Telephone Operator in 1969 she retired from the company in 1989. Joan loved having family and friends over for dinner parties. She enjoyed dancing and having a good time, she loved fancy clothes and costume jewelry. Joan has three sisters and late brother Robert Butts: Bonnie Wise, Jacksonville Fl, Rhonda Cole Long Beach, LI, Evelyn Clayton, NJ. Joan is survived by her Five Sons and One daughter: Roderick Giles (Claudia) New York NY, Broderick Mealey (Cindy) Ashboro, NC, Lamont Whitney (Cheryl) Spring Valley, NY, Michael McMullin (Melanie) Savannah, GA, Derrick McMullin (Charlene) Spring Valley, Tammy McMullin Highland, NY. Grand Children: Na'eem, Asia, Darren, Danielle, Amber, Lamont Jr., Michael, Makeya, Matthew, Jake, Derrick Jr, Derrick II, Nakeya, Courtney. Great Grandchildren: Na'eem King, Michelle Zamiyah. Visiting is scheduled for Tuesday from 10 am until 12 noon at Faith Temple Church, 130 Bethune Blvd. Spring Valley, NY 10977. A Homegoing Service will be held on Tuesday at the church at 12 noon with Bishop Ernest Buxton officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.

Joan and I have been friends since we were 17 years old. Our boys were born around the same time. We shared a life of good and bad times and then she was lost to me due to illness. I have never forgotten her or stopped missing her and she will remain in my heart forever.
