John Adams Obituary

Adams CFC, Rev. Br. James John

Reverend Brother John Adams (James) C.F.C. age 71, born Jan. 8, 1942 in the Bronx, NY passed away Nov.14, 2013. The son of Henry J. Adams and Florence Sewastynowicz (Savage). Brother John graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in Paramus, NJ. On July 5, 1959 he entered the Irish Christian Brothers Order. He graduated from Iona College and served as a teaching brother for the next 54years. Brother John taught in St. Cecelia, Rice High School, Power Memorial and Bergen Catholic. For the past 27 years he has been at Iona Prep in New Rochelle teaching Math and as yearbook Supervisor. He also served as Bursar during his time at Iona. His life was dedicated to his students and the Irish Christian Brothers. He is survived by his sister Geraldine Adams Iorlano and her husband Pasquale, his nephews: Matthew Iorlano (Amy) and David Iorlano (Jacqueline) and his Great Nephews: Matthew, Mark, Derek and Dylan Iorlano and Great Nieces Jillian and Jessica Iorlano. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Florence Adams and his Aunt and Uncle Irene and William Mount. A wake will be held at the chapel at Iona Prep, 255 Wilmot Road, New Rochelle, NY 10804 on Sunday November 17, 2013 from 1 PM to 5 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Avenue, New Rochelle, NY on Monday at 9 AM. Interment will follow at the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park, NY. Donations may be made in his memory to the St. Joseph Care Center, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY 1804.
