Thomas Rocks Obituary
Thomas M. Rocks, a former Suffern, NY resident, passed away Oct. 24, 2012 at the age of 78. Born Jan. 5, 1934 in Queens, NY to Thomas and Elizabeth Rocks, Thomas attended St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School in Woodhaven, NY, Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, NY and Manhattan College. He was a retired Battalion Chief with the FDNY Ladder 49 in the Bronx, NY. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maureen Rocks; six children, Michael (Donna), Kathleen Chichetti, Patrick, Dennis (Jill), Maryalice and Stephen Ruggiero, and Kevin (Monika), as well as 17 grandchildren, and 1 sister, Maureen Boller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mahwah, NJ. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 Pm at the SCARR FUNERAL HOME, INC. Route 202 Suffern. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 would be appreciated.

Well, all I can say is that the Duffy Family really, "HIT THE LOTTERY", when we moved to Beech Road and found that we were next door neighbors to the Rocks Family. Tom Rocks will be remembered by all as a husband, father and friend to be admired. My thoughts and prayers are with all.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me".
