1943 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Archer, Rev. Aaron

The Very Reverend Archpriest Aaron Archer died on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Northern Metropolitan Residential Health Care facility in Monsey, New York. He was 68 years old.

A funeral service will be held at The Orthodox Christian Church of the Holy Transfiguration, 35 Sickletown Road, Pearl River, New York on Sunday, November 18, beginning at 6:00 pm. Divine Liturgy will be held the following Monday, November 19, at 9:30 am, also at Holy Transfiguration. The burial will take place following the liturgy at Holy Dormition Convent, Novo-Diveevo, 100 Smith Road, Nanuet, NY, at 1:00 pm.

Father Aaron served in many parishes in the New York Area of which the last two were Saint John the Baptist in Spring Valley, New York, and Saints Cosmas and Damian Adult Home in Staten Island, New York.

He was born Allan Frost Archer, Jr. in Decatur, Alabama, on December 23, 1943, of Mableann Hanson and Allan Frost Archer, Sr. A sensitive and intelligent young man, Allan attended Emory University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in German. He then went on to receive a Masters in German literature and linguistics from Cornell University.

A man of strong religious faith, Allan discovered his true vocation after several years of working in academia, both as an administrator and as a faculty member. His convictions eventually led him to the Orthodox Church, where he was ordained as a priest on June 16, 1996. He had attended St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary and had received a Master of Divinity degree prior to his ordination. True to his lifelong love of learning, he would later go on to receive a Master's in Theology from the same institution.

Fr. Aaron will be remembered for the unshakeable integrity with which he led his life, for the care and devotion with which he undertook all of his endeavors, and for his profound love for his son, Allan and his daughter, Sollange. Of all who survived him, he will be missed most by his son, Allan of Norwalk, Connecticut, his sister, Anne of Miami, Florida, his cousin, Ellanor of Decatur, Georgia, and his nephew, Tony of Austin, Texas. He will also be missed greatly by his friends, Moire Macleod of Airmont, New York, Michael Searcy of LaGrange, Georgia, and Roland Stone of Napa, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mableann and Allan and by his daughter, Sollange in 2011.

May his memory be eternal.
