Anne M. Skahen (nee O'Mahoney), 96, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2013, after a brief illness. Born and raised in New York City, she was a resident of Stony Point for the last 66 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John F. Skahen, who was a former Rockland County District attorney, and the Surrogate Court judge of Rockland County at the time of his death in 1983. Anne and John had a long, loving, and rich marriage. Anne is survived by three children, Michael P. Skahen of Suffern, NY, Timothy F. Skahen and his wife Gail of Newburgh, NY, and Mary C. Skahen of Boston, MA. She was the devoted grandmother of Derek Skahen, Erin Dean, Meghan Skahen, Daniel Skahen, Leah Skahen and Jonathan Garcia. To her great sadness, she was predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter, Kelly. Skahen. She was the proud great-grandmother of Stephanie, Melanie and Allison Skahen and Connor Dean. She also loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Anne was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a lector and CCD teacher for many years. She also volunteered at Letchworth Village Developmental Center and had been a member of the Board of Directors at Rockland Community College. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle, Class of 1942. Anne loved the Hudson River Valley, as well as Cape Cod where she vacationed for 50 years.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edward C. Finn Funeral Home, 43 E. Main St., Stony Point. Calling hours will be Friday, April 19 from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Stony Point, NY.
