Loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully August 25, 2013. She was born in Mt. Vernon and lived there most of her life. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank W. and Catherine T Madden, her first husband, Eamon T. O'Dwyer, her second husband, Richard J. Zuccarelli, her daughter Siobhan T. O'Dwyer, and her beloved brothers Frank W., James T. and Richard G. Madden.
She graduated from Academy of the Resurrection, Rye, New York and later from the College of New Rochelle. She obtained both a bachelor's degree and master degree while working full time and raising three children as a single parent. She then worked at her dream job with a twenty year career as a special education teacher in the Mt. Vernon school system, primarily at Cecil H. Parker School.
Catherine is a model of strength and persistence having fought a four decade battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She is survived by two children, her daughter Nora Montoya of Mt. Vernon and her husband Chalo Montoya, her son P.J. O'Dwyer of Wilmington, Delaware and his wife Margaret S. O'Dwyer, and her grandchildren Maizie, Eamon, Devon, Olivia and Clare and many friends and family members.
Friends may visit Tuesday, August 27th from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm and on Wednesday, August 28th from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 10am at St. Catharine's Church, 25 Second Avenue, Pelham, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter with "Daring Dashers" noted in the memo line at 2 Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.
