Denis Halloran of Yonkers died peacefully with his family by his side on May 10, 2013 at age 77. He was born on August 17, 1935 to Denis and Hannah (Murphy) in County Cork, Ireland where he was raised and educated and served in the Irish Army before coming to America in 1955. Denis worked as a carpenter for Local # 608 and later as a carpenter for the Cloisters Museum until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. National Guard. Mr. Halloran was a parishioner of Christ the King Church for over forty years. He was a former member of the A.O.H., Myles Scully Division, the Mt. Vernon Irish-American Association and was a fundraising volunteer for the Mill Hill Fathers. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and all outdoor activities. He is survived by his loving children, Anne Marie Vignola of Dover Plains, NY, Christine (Peter) DeGennaro of Pawling, NY, Denis (Renee)Halloran of Yonkers, NY, Daniel Halloran of Yonkers, NY and Elizabeth Halloran of Mahopac, NY. He is survived by his six grandchildren, Daniel, Denis, Shannon, Caitlyn, Kelly and Sophia. They were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth McGee and his best friend, Geraldine Kelly. He was uncle and great uncle to many. Denis was predeceased by his ten brothers and sisters and his former wife, Helen Halloran who died in 2006. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday night 7-9 pm. and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Christ the King Church on Wednesday May 15th at 10 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
