Edward E. Hurst of Walden, NY, formerly of Piermont, NY a retired Senior Electrician for Columbia University for 25 years and retired Master Sgt for the US Army died Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Wayne, NJ. He was 82. The son of the late Carl and Mae Griffith Hurst, he was born July 14, 1931 in Greenup, Kentucky. He served 20 years in the Army retiring as Master Sergeant. Edward received a bronze star in Korea and six bronze stars in Vietnam for courage in the face of combat. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He was the widower of Mary Ann Hurst.

Survivors include his daughter Kathleen M Doyle and her husband Daniel of Goshen, NY, daughter Elizabeth A Perrello and her husband Christopher of Walden, NY, son-in-law James Baughman of Smithfield, VA; six grandchildren; April, Christopher, Sean, Shane, Erin and Derrick, one great granddaughter McKayla Doyle, brothers Raymond Hurst of Cleveland, OH and Ted Hurst and his wife Lorraine of Centralia, WA, sisters Goldie Rinker of Clearwater, FL, Charlotte Billips of West Virginia and Peggy Marshall of Cleveland, OH, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary H Baughman, grandson Damien Perrello and brother James Hurst.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden, NY. A funeral mass will be Thursday, August 8, 2013, 11 am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 2800 Route 17K, Bullville, NY. Burial will be in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The -Memorial Processing, 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse NY 13057. Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
