Feeney, Eileen U.

Eileen U. Feeney, died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Teresian House on May 4, 2013. Eileen was born in Haverstraw, NY on May 15, 1927 to Andrew and Susan Urban and lived most of her adult life in Albany, NY. She was a gifted vocalist, humanitarian, and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. In her youth, Eileen was a member of the choir at St. Mary's Church in Haverstraw, NY. During the 1980s, she also sang with the chorale group at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh, NY. Eileen was a volunteer with the Ladies of Charity and Cerebral Palsy Center, and participated in other charitable activities during much of her life in Albany. She worked as an executive assistant at the American Can Company in New York City after her graduation from Haverstraw High School in 1945. Eileen was the Office Manager at Brooks-Byer Associates in Delmar, NY from 1975-1983.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Urban; her sister, Marie Urban; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ferrara. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John "Jay" Feeney; her sister, Claire Alfred; daughters, Christine (Peter) Ferrara of Fairfield, CT, Jayne Kostantinidis of Belmont, MA , and Susan (Steven) Marks of Syracuse; sons, John (Shiuan) Feeney of New York City, Andrew (Maureen) Feeney of Albany; and 15 grandchildren, Kristin, Susan and Margaret Ferrara; Kate (Harper) Homes; Zoe, Yianni, and Vasilis Kostantinidis; Michael, Andrew, Stephen and Matthew Marks; Elizabeth Feeney; and Brigit, Tara and Robert Feeney; and great-granddaughter, Lucy Homes; niece, Susanna Alfred, and her beloved friend, Judy Flannery.

Funeral services Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 8:15 am from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany, thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany at 9:00 am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at 1:00 pm in St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
