Thank you, Father Fred, for your friendship, for the happy greetings, the dinners in the friary dining room. For your terrific hiking column in my newspaper The Peekskill Herald and for your award-winning feature stories, too. Thank you for giving me the honor of proofreading the writings of Father Paul that you so painstakingly compiled. Like so many others, I heartily miss your presence, your care and concern, your humor. As you bask in the light of Christ, remember us till we meet again -- on the heavenly hiking trails or around the Paradise newspaper office!
-- Lots of love, Kathy Daley

Fr. Fred Alvarez contributed to the history of the SA founders and to the history of the order. His work will be a testament to his devotion and love of the Society of the Atonement and its mission of reconciliation. May he rest in the peace of Christ. I have sent his name via the Internet to be placed at the Western Wall in Jerusalem where he will be remembered in prayer.

Father Fred touched my heart in the little time that he spent in my parish. With even the slightest glance at Father, it was impossible not to be overcome with the love that he so vibrantly radiated. As I grow older Father, please know that I will never forget you, and you smile will be forever engraved im my very being. Rest in peace Father Fred Alvarez.

Father Fred Alvarez was a true Franciscan within the spirit of the Founder of the Friars of the Atonement. May he rest in peace and may there be someone eager to follow him as a Friar of the Atonement.
