Gerald Markowitz Obituary

Markowitz, Gerald H.

Gerald H. Markowitz, (1932 - 2011) of Hastings-on-Hudson, died on August 9th from complications during surgery. He was 79 years old. A graduate of Yonkers High School ('49), Brown University ('53), and Harvard Law School ('56), he also served two years in the Army. He married Sandy Schulner, had three children, and for the next 50 years practiced law on Central Avenue in the Hartsdale/White Plains area. After Sandy passed away in 1977, he began a relationship with Neala Harris and helped raise two step-children. He was an active member of the Brown Club of Westchester, the Westchester Bar Association and Bet Am Shalom Synagogue. He is survived by wife Neala Markowitz, son Stephen (Fiona), and daughters Deborah (Paul) and Laura (Mary Kay); step-daughter Rachele Khadjehturian (Tina), and step-son Andrew Harris; and by his seven grandchildren. He was buried on August 11 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Hastings. Donations may be made in his memory to Bet Am Shalom, 295 Soundview Avenue, White Plains 10606.
