Harry Laffer Obituary

LAFFER, HARRY

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Harry Laffer passed away on February 7, with his family at his side. Harry was born on November 16, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Lena and Louis Laffer. After high school Harry enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. Harry attended New York University where he graduated with honors in 1955. In 1958, Harry and his family moved from the Bronx to Valley Cottage. Harry worked as an industrial engineer and plant manager for Grant Hardware in West Nyack and Haverstraw for more than 30 years. In 1992, Harry moved to Delray Beach, Florida.

Harry is survived by his wife Pepi, daughter Robin and her husband Matt of Bellport, New York, and son Marc and his wife Patty of New City, New York. In addition Harry adored and was the very proud grandfather of Adam, Lindsay, Matthew, Katie and Courtney. Harry's devotion to family was evident in his strong bond to his many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his brother, Irving Laffer.

Harry was a lifetime member of Congregation Sons of Israel in Upper Nyack where he served in many positions, including president.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11 AM at Congregation Sons of Israel, 300 North Broadway, Nyack, NY. Shiva will initially be observed at the home of Marc & Patty Laffer, and conclude at the home of Robin & Matt Kinigson. Contributions in Harry's memory can be sent to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
