Arrigo, Dr. John Cyrus

Dr. John Cyrus Arrigo of Montebello, NY died peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital on October 19, 2013. He was 87. Dr Arrigo was born in Brooklyn, raised in Spring Valley NY, he was the second child of Dr. Ciro Carmine Arrigo and Bonoventura (nee Bruno) of Spring Valley. Dr. Arrigo served in the Naval Hospital National Reserve in the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps and thereafter attended medical school at the University of Bologna, Italy. Dr. Arrigo's crew helped outfit the USS Point Cruz and was given a Plank Owners Certificate and received the Pacific War Zone Ribbon. He was a General Practitioner for 42 years and was retired 7 years ago. He was the Suffern PBA Surgeon, a member of the Elks Club and School Physician for the Ramapo Central School District, also a member of Tagaste Monastery in Suffern. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Arrigo (Taylor) and survived by his former wife, Doreen Schmitz Durham; daughters, Suzie Arrigo Clark and her husband Dale, and Jane Arrigo Lindemann and her husband Keith; Robert Taylor and his wife Missy; 6 grandchildren, Johnny, Keith, Tony, Jessica, Lisa, and Veneesa. He is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy Galante, and Frank Arrigo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. Entombment at Garden Of Memories in Paramus NJ. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4and 7-9 PM at the Scarr Funeral Home, Route 202, Suffern. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tagaste Monastery, Suffern, NY.
