JOHN O'BRIEN Obituary

Father John P. O'Brien passed away on December 9, 2009. Father was born in the Bronx and was educated at William Taft High School, Iona College, Fordham University, the University of San Francisco and St. Bonaventure University. Father held New York State Certifications in Math, Business and Guidance. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1958 and taught at Holy Cross, St. John's Newfoundlandl; All Hallows, Bronx; Iona Grammar, New Rochelle; Rice High School, Manhattan; Bishop Kearney, Rochester; Msgr. Farrell, Staten Island. Father O'Brien entered St. Joseph's Seminary, Yonkers, NY in 1986 and was ordained as a priest of the Archdiocese of New York on May 12, 1990. Father served as an Associate Pastor at St. Sylvester's, Staten Island from 19901993; as Vice Rector-Dean of Students at St. John Neumann Residence, Minor Seminary from 1993-1998. In 1998 he became the administrator and then the faithful Shepherd and Pastor of St. Pius X Parish. The Mass of the Holy Eucharist will be Friday December 11, 2009 at 7PM, Mass of Christian Burial Saturday December 12, 2009, 9:30AM at St. Pius X Church Scarsdale. Visiting Hours Friday 2-5PM at St. Pius X Church. Donations in Father O'Brien's memory may be made to The Church of St. Pius X Renovation Campaign. EDWIN L.
