Kenneth Eugene Shupe died on Wednesday, November 21st, in Monterey, California, of a ruthless cancer that ultimately claimed his life, but never conquered his spirit. A devoted brother, doting uncle, gentle soul, collector of strays, a generous friend who would give the (tie dye) shirt off his back, Ken was born on May 12, 1950 to Virgil and Mildred Shupe of Crestwood, New York. A graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, Ken moved to California in the mid '70s, eventually settling in Monterey, a place that he loved for its natural beauty and proximity to the ocean. Ken had a long career as an independent contractor in Monterey, earning a reputation for his integrity and craftsmanship. Ken is pre-deceased by his parents and his brother Steven Shupe. He is survived by his sisters Karen Nobile, Marcia Angilello, and Maureen McGrath; and by his brothers Gary, Jim, Richard and Michael. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, his 17 nieces and nephews, and 17 great-nieces and nephews, and his many friends. A memorial is planned for a later date.
