Rubinstein, Margaret

Margaret Rubinstein, passed away on Dec. 1, 2012. A longtime resident of Suffern, NY, Margaret was born on July 2, 1929 in Cork Ireland and was the loving daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen (O'Keefe) Looney of Cork. She was one of ten siblings and is survived by her sister, Mary Looney of New Jersey and brother, Dom Looney of Cork Ireland.

Margaret was the beloved wife of Philip Rubinstein (deceased) and is survived by her loving family, including son, Harry and wife Tracey of Monroe, NY; son, Tighe and wife Flavia of White Plains, NY; daughter, Eileen Gannon and husband Chuck of Lincroft, NJ; son, Brian and wife Janet of Concord, NC; and daughter, Debra Goldstein and husband Rich of Monroe, NY. She will be greatly missed by her 12 grandchildren, Julie, Jill, Michael, Kiera, Thomas, William, Jordan, Jensen, Jaiden, Danielle, Aimee, and Gregory. Margaret leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family and friends here and in Ireland.

A proud mother and grandmother, Margaret was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. She was very active in Our Ladys Guild there as well as the Irish Arts Cultural Center of Rockland. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed Frank Sinatra music and an occasional Manhattan while belting out a refrain from "(I did it) My Way". She will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church in Suffern. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the SCARR FUNERAL HOME, INC. ROUTE 202, SUFFERN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
