Maccaferri, Maria
Maria Annita Maccaferri, a seventy year resident of Rye, NY passed away on January 12, 2013. Maria was born in Serracapriola, Italy on February 2, 1920, the daughter of Vittorino and Antonietta de Leonardis Centuori. While living in Paris, France, she met her future husband Mario Maccaferri. They were wed on December 23, 1937. Mario founded the French American Reeds Company and Mastro Industries along with Maria who would become his production manager, a career that would span sixty six years. In 2003 Maria was honored as Businesswoman of the Year in Mt. Vernon, NY. Mario predeceased her on April 16, 1993. Maria is survived by three children: Eliane M. Reese of Jackson, TN, Antoinette Rothballer of Rye, NY, and Marco Maccaferri of Louisville, KY, eight grandchildren: Eugene P. Reese, III of Atlanta, GA, Maria E. Reese of Chicago, IL, Laura Rothballer of LaGrange, NY, Donna Pagliaro of Pawling, NY, Denise Reheuser of Haymarket, VA, Michael, Mario, and Gina Maria Maccaferri of Louisville, KY, and eight great grandchildren: Michael Ball, Leigh Anne Patterson, Robert Reier, Annalee Pagliaro, Lauren, Stephanie and Matthew Reheuser and Mark Maccaferri. Maria ("Nanny") was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love of life, resilience, independence and infectious laugh will survive through them. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Church of the Resurrection at 11 AM on Friday. Donations may be made in her memory to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH.
