Selvaggi, Rocco Frank

Rocco Frank Selvaggi, a longtime resident of Suffern, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Nov. 6, 2012. He was 85. Born June 21, 1927 in Bari, Italy to Gemma and Frank, and brother to Dominic who passed away as a child, and survived by his sister, Madeline (Lena) Genzano. Rocco was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country proudly. He had a long career as a leather salesman and devoted his life to his family. He was a member of the Suffern Seniors and the Sons of Italy, his favorite pastimes included playing baseball and golf, going to the movies, playing cards, going to Atlantic City, and most importantly, spending time with his family. During his 42 years married to Marilyn, Rocco had 5 children, Maggie Steinback, Diane Schmolze (Bob), Debbie Pregiato, Frank Selvaggi (Bill Shea), and Scott (Melissa). He also leaves behind 8 beautiful grandchildren, Steven (Nicole), Frank, Christopher, Kimberly, Peter, Adam, Michael, and Izzy; 2 great-grandchildren, Jake, and Julianna; and 2 nieces, Melissa and Jessica. Rocco is also survived by his loving devoted companion and best friend, Janice Smith and her children, Neal (Cheryl), Gregg (Janey), Randi (Allan), and their children. He was a proud devoted father, grandfather and friend. He will be loved and missed and never forgotten. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Putnam Valley NY. Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. at the Scarr Funeral Home Inc., Route 202, Suffern. In lieu of flowers, donations to the would be appreciated.
