Barker, Ross Capewell

Ross Capewell Barker, formerly of Yorktown Heights, NY, died in St. Croix, USVI on February 15 surrounded by his loving family, sisters Ditto and Mimi, and his nephew Kip and Kip's wife Colleen. Ross was born on March 26, 1940, in Peekskill, New York. He was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Wootton and his parents, Harriet Augusta and Harry Capewell, all residents of Mt. Kisco, New York. Ross moved to St. Croix in 2004, in search of warm weather, white sands and blue seas. He spent his time there golfing, sailing and snorkeling. He was also very active in the local AA fellowship, a community which he dearly treasured. After graduation from Yorktown Heights High School in 1958, Ross attended Duke University and then enlisted in the Air Force. Following his four years of service, he worked in New York City at L. F. Rothschild, a brokerage firm, for 21 years and then for 17 years as Office Manager at his nephew's law firm, Hunter and Associates. Ross's life was celebrated by his family and many friends at Cane Bay, his favorite beach, was buried at sea the next day. Ross' motto in life was "nice matters" and he lived that motto throughout his 72 years. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with great affection.
