Sarah Knight Budke Obituary
Budke, Sarah Knight

Sarah Knight Budke, 68, known as Sally all of her life. A 34 year resident of Stamford, CT. She passed away peacefully, with her husband Bob at her side, after a long battle with cancer at Stamford Hospital on February 28.

Sarah Kay Knight was born on May 20, 1944 in Denton, Texas. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University, and retired from IBM after 30 years, in 1996. Her parents were the late Lynn Franklin Knight and Lela Kirby Knight, both who lived in Denton, Texas for most of their lives.

Sally is survived by her beloved husband, Robert W. Budke (Bob) after 33 years of marriage; her sister, Susan Knight Panzica and her husband Richard of Penn Valley, CA; her step-son, Eric Budke, 39, of Rye, NY, and her grandchildren, Emma 8, Reed 6, and Molly 6, Budke of Rye, NY, whom she absolutely adored. Also, her brother-in-law, Henry Budke and his wife Leslie of Kings Park, LI, NY, and her sister-in-law, Anita Budke Tietjen and her husband Bill of Bloomsbury, NJ. Sally enjoyed visiting with her nine nieces and nephews and her many grandnieces and grandnephews. Especially, at Christmas. She enjoyed decorating her Christmas tree with many special and unique ornaments.

Sally and Bob enjoyed going to Mets Games, US Open Tennis matches and nearby US Golf events. They volunteered together at the Westchester Golf tournaments and teaching seniors to use a PC. They also, enjoyed going to Jimmy Buffett, Neil Diamond, and many country concerts. They enjoyed traveling all over the US, including most of California when they would visit her mother and sister, every year.

Very special has been their 33 years as members in the Manursing Island Club in Rye, NY. Including, their wedding reception, Eric's reception, and many years playing tennis and dining with family and friends "on the sound", or spending time with their grandchildren.

Sally was an excellent cook, and they regularly ate at home, but they really enjoyed going out to local restaurants, sometimes with friends and family, or often they ate on the bar and watched a game.

One of her favorite times of the year is known as "March Madness", the annual NCAA basketball tournament. They would enjoy watching the games every year at Bobby Vs Sports Cafe in Stamford. CT. Often taking vacation days while they were working.

It is her preference that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Bennett Cancer Center, c/o The Stamford Hospital Foundation, 1351 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT 06902, phone 203-276-5900. Or, via http://www.stamfordhospitalfoundation.org/ then click on The Bennett Center.
