Kleber, Ernest John

Ernest John Kleber, Jr. of West Nyack, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the age of 89. Ernest was born in the Bronx on October 23, 1924 the son of Ernest John and Nora (McCarthy) Kleber.

He served in the Army during World War II in the tank division under Gen. Patton and was a Police Officer for the NYPD, in the 46th Precinct, retiring as a Sergeant in 1971. Ernie was a member of the Rockland County Shields, the NYPD 10-13 Club, the VFW Post 27 in the Bronx, the Willow Wood Rifle & Pistol Club in Mahopac, NY and the Walking Club in Nanuet.

He is survived by his loving nephews and niece, Robert Carlyle, Keith Carlyle and Dorothy Devine-Morrissey and her husband Pat and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Dorothy Carlyle.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, April 6 from 2 - 4 pm & 7 - 9 pm at the Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. where services will be held on Monday, April 7 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ernest's name to the NYPD Widows & Orphans Fund, 345 Park Ave., New York, NY 10154.
