Josepha "Jo" DelTufo, 97, a native of White Plains, NY died at home in Massachusetts surrounded by family on May 02, 2014. Jo is predeceased by her parents Anna (Matranga) and Frank Cucciarre, her sister Angela Cucciare and her husbands John M. Kelly and Vincent DelTufo.
Jo graduated from White Plains H.S. earned a B.S. from Ithaca College in Physical Education, and received a M.A. in Health Education and Guidance from NYU. She was a member of Phi Delta Pi. Jo was employed by the City of WP as a teacher for 35 years at East View Jr. High where she taught, P.E., Health Education, and Coached Intra-Mural sports.
Jo was an active and longstanding member of professional, philanthropic, and civic organizations where she held leadership positions. Included among these was membership in the WP Retired Teachers Assoc., Woman Club, College Club, WP Hospital Auxiliary, Lion's Club, Historical Society, ACIM Committee, and Boy's Town of Italy where she was awarded a special service citation. Jo's civic interest was demonstrated in her service to the Republican City and Executive Committees, role as a District Leader, and participation in the Republican Woman's Club. Her love of WP was reflected in her years of service on the Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee and the Beautification Foundation, Jo was a Communicant of Mt. Carmel and St. Bernard Churches, W.P.
Hers was a life of commitment to others as a loving mother, member of her family, loyal friend and lifetime resident of WP.
Jo is survived by her daughter Joelle Kelly of MA., her sister Mary Dimando of CT, and many extended family members and friends.
Visiting Friday 4 to 8pm. Mass Saturday 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Greenburgh, NY. Memorial donations may be made to
