Robert Leahy, 92, of Cromwell, Ct. and formerly of Port Chester, NY died July 25, 2014. He was born July 6, 1922 in Port Chester to the late William and Mariagnes Leahy. He was raised and educated in Port Chester. Mr. Leahy served in the United States Navy during World War II, first on the USS Iowa in the Atlantic Theater and then aboard the USS Hancock in the Pacific Theater engaging in many major battles. He was married to Rose Fiore on June 14, 1947 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Mrs. Leahy died June 6, 2005. Mr. Leahy was a retired postal clerk for the Port Chester Post Office. He was a parishioner of the Our Lady of Mercy Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Apple Rehab in Cromwell, Ct. for the love, care and compassion of Mr. Leahy during his time there. He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Wayne Leahy and wife Sharon of Cromwell, Ct., Gail Feldman and husband Richard of Norwalk, Ct. and Nancy Annunziato and husband Frank of Tombstone, Az. grandchildren Kelly Davis of Tolland, Ct. and Meagan Ribera of Cromwell, Ct., great grandchildren Madison and McKenna Davis and Michael and Emma Ribera. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his brother Father Stephen Leahy. Visitation will be 8:30AM to 10:30AM on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook, NY.
