Fitzpatrick Sr., John S.

John S. Fitzpatrick Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Wappingers Falls, New York on August 1, 2014. He was 75.

Born on April 1, 1939 in Yonkers, NY to the late John & Rose (Cina) Fitzpatrick.

Jack met the love of his life, Dorothy Mahonski, and married her on September 21, 1963 in Yonkers. Jack is now reunited with his love Dorothy who predeceased him on March 30, 2014.

Jack attended Saunders Trades and Technical High School in Yonkers, and graduated in 1957. He immediately joined the US Navy, where he served on the USS Hawkins, a Gearing class destroyer, until his honorable discharge in April of 1962. He received a good conduct medal and was a proud, and active member of the Tin-Can Sailor organization for US Navy Destroyer Veterans.

Jack was a member of the Yonkers Fire Department where he was a highly decorated firefighter over his 35 year career. He retired a Lieutenant in 1997.

He is survived by his loving children Jack Fitzpatrick Jr. and his wife Melodie of Bethel, CT; Anne-Rose Mortensen and her husband Doug of Fishkill; Timothy Fitzpatrick and his wife Donna of Yonkers; and Joseph Fitzpatrick of Wappingers Falls. His cherished grandchildren Ryan, Jessica, Emily, Connor and Billy. His dear sister Ellen Coburn and husband Warren of Maryland; and brother Rory Fitzpatrick, and wife Robin of Virginia; along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his youngest son Thomas on September 18, 2013.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home 1028 Main St, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August, 11, 2014 at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill. Burial will be immediately following the funeral at Fishkill rural cemetery.

We would ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Jack's name to St. Jude Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
