Thomas F. Kelly of Pearl River, NY passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his home. He was 82.
Mr. Kelly served as a member of the New York City Police Department for 29 years. He retired as a detective from the 24th Precinct in 1982. He returned to Manhattan in 1986 to begin working at the William F. Ryan Health Center as the Director of Security in 1986 and remained there until 2014. He served in the United States Marines from 1950 to 1953 and was a member of the Rockland County Shields.
Tom was born January 26, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to James and Mary Kelly. On September 29, 1956, he married Margaret (Bunny) Baldwin at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brooklyn, NY. Tom was a resident of Pearl River for 52 years. Before that, he lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn from 1932 to 1962.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Baldwin Kelly; his daughter, Kerry Calle; sons, Thomas, John and Mark; loving grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, Kristen, Richard, Shannon, Tommy, Colin, Christopher, Sean, Erin, Kaitlyn, John, Ali, Lauren and Hannah; brother, James; sister, Mary and brother, Joe. He is predeceased by his brother John.
Tom's siblings blessed him with many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Aedan's R.C. Church, Pearl River. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
Visiting is Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
