Albert DeVito Obituary

DEVITO, ALBERT D.

Albert D. DeVito, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Saturday, July 16, 2011at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Yonkers, NY. He was 86 years old. Born December 3, 1924 in Hastings on Hudson, NY the son of the late Joseph and Anna Paterson DeVito, Al graduated from Commerce High School in Yonkers. He served during World War II in the U. S. Army and later worked as a produce manager for Safeway and later Finast supermarkets. Following his retirement from the retail food business, he went to work briefly for Staples office stores. In his later years, he was a crossing guard for St. Bartholomew's School. Al was the dear husband of the late Rita Falzone DeVito and the beloved father of Danny DeVito and his wife, Joanne; Joanne Caggiano and her husband, Jim; Sallianne DeVito; Debbie DeLuccy and Corinne Ferrara and her husband, Bob. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his sister Pearl Polsen and was predeceased by his brothers Joe & Frank DeVito. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Calvary Hospice, 1200 Waters Place, Bronx, NY 10461. Funeral Mass Tuesday a.m. at St. Bartholomew's Church, Palmer Road, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY. The family will be present Monday 2 -9 p.m. at F.
