Jacobs, Sam

Sam Jacobs, age 68, died of natural causes in Tappan, NY on Thursday, November 15.

Born February 15, 1944 in New York City, NY, he was the son of Milton and Mina Jacobs. He was a dedicated social studies teacher for over 30 years at IS 183 and Junior High School 149 in the South Bronx, NY.

Sam was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He generously gave his time to the South Orangetown community. He was a pack leader with the Cub Scouts, a dedicated coach for his sons' Tappan T-Shirt Baseball and Orangetown Mighty Midgets Soccer teams, as well as group leader for many years at Camp Hill Day Camp in Pomona, NY.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Lynne; sons Michael (wife Jen) and Jon (wife Jennifer); grandchildren Ashley, Katie, Daniel, Allison, Amanda, Braden, and Rhys.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, Saturday, November 17, at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. Following a funeral service at 10 am at Moritz Funeral Home on Sunday, November 18, Sam will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ.
