Michael DeSola Obituary
Michael J. DeSola: Simply one-of-a-kind. Loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, beloved friend, Michael J. DeSola, of Yonkers, NY died on Wednesday January 23, 2013. He was 68 years old. Born on October 21, 1944 in Brooklyn to Michael and Winifred DeSola. Mr. DeSola was founder and long-time Chairman of DeSola Group, a management consultancy. He served in the Marines. A graduate of Regis High School, Yale University, and Pace University Executive MBA Program. He was a Knight of Malta, served on numerous business and non-profit boards, and was an active contributor to his local community, including over 20 years coaching Annunciation Grammar School and Hillcrest Lakers Community Club where he will always be remembered for lots of life lessons, numerous championships and one special motto: "Make Magic!" His love continues to live on through his wife Florence Calderhead DeSola; one daughter, Michele DeSola Moyna of Yonkers; four sons, Michael Jr. of Yonkers, Damian of Readington, NJ, Thomas of Brooklyn, NY, and Ryan of New Rochelle; 9 grandchildren, James, Macklin and Mackenzie Moyna; Damian, Aidan, Lucy and Lyla DeSola; Desmond and Luke DeSola; his sister and brother-in-law, Wynne and Pete Diomede; and daughter-in-laws, Mary DeSola and Aisling DeSola. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Thomas, and sister Marguerite. Friends are invited to call at the Fred H. McGrath and Son Funeral Home, Cedar at Kraft Avenue, Bronxville on Saturday, January 26 from 4-7pm and on Sunday, January 27 from 2-5pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28 at 10am at the Church of the Annunciation, Crestwood. Interment will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.

We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Mike. He will always be remembered as a loving, devoted man who cherished his wife, Florence, his children, grandchildren and the many children of the Crestwood community whom he so lovingly and diligently mentored. My sincere and deepest sympathy to the DeSola Family. I have had to pleasure of working with Mike D. at Desola for 7 years. Through those years,I learned about the structure and nature of the business but more importantly, about the man who put his all into it. Mr. D treated his employees and clients as if they were family.
Mike was definitely a man of character who exemplified dignity, respect, and empathy along with a host of other wonderful qualities that defined him. He also had a great sense of humor. He will truly be missed.

Not everyone gets the chance to meet a man like Mr. DeSola. I am thankful that I did. In that short time he helped to shape my ideas of what it means to be a good man and a good person in ways that he could not have known. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I had the honor and pleasure of working at Desola Group for almost 10 years. To me Mike Sr. always was and will be the icon of the leadership and I'm fortunate that I had a chance to see him make the magic over the years. This is a great loss.

Mike was a real leader and he will be truly missed. Our condolences to Florence, their children and grandchildren. We'll all treasure the memory of Mike at the podium at the Special Olympics award ceremonies at Schultze field (Crestwood)- it was his project and he truly loved doing it and we loved him for doing it. Growing up with Macklin, I got to know the grandfather or as mack and kenzie called him pops.He was always supportive of the family and was often seen at our basketball games.I am going to miss seeing him driving around in his porsche like he so often had done.My deepest condolences go to the family .rest in peace.
