Phillips, Melody L.

Melody L. Phillips of Stony Point passed away peacefully and gracefully with her family by her side Wednesday January 23 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was 58. Melody (Brooks) Phillips was born August 8, 1954 in Nyack to Richard and Bertha Brooks. Melody graduated from North Rockland High School "Class of 1972" she then received her A.S. in Nursing from Rockland Community College in 1974 and she received her B.S. in Biology from Iona College in 1977. She began working as an RN for Nyack Hospital in 1977 as a staff nurse, she progressed into I.C.U. and was a critical care instructor. She joined Helen Hayes Hospital in 1984 and was currently a nurse manager and coordinator of the outpatient cardiac unit. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. Melody will always be known for her beautiful smile and was the ultimate care giver. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Melody is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Timothy, her devoted children Brendan and his girlfriend Jessica Roeth, and her daughter Sarah. She is also survived by her father Richard "Nunker" Brooks, sister Sherree Kearney several nieces, nephews and cousins. Melody is predeceased by her mother Bertha who had just passed on Tuesday January 22.

Melody's visiting hours along with her mother Bertha will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday from 2-4, 7-9 pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home GARNERVILLE. Melody's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Stony Point. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial donations are being requested to be made to Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation in Melody's memory.
