Annamae Silva passed away in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was 84 years old and had resided in Charlotte, NC for more than eight years. Born Annamae Lightfoot in Pike County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Sidney and Otis Lightfoot. Annamae was one of 8 children. Eventually she and her family migrated to Yonkers, NY where she graduated from Yonkers High School. Annamae married the love of her life, Leon Silva, on July 30, 1947 at St. Mary's Church in Yonkers, NY. During the course of their marriage they were blessed with five beautiful children and resided in Yonkers for a number of years before moving to Cortlandt Manor, NY in 1966. Cortlandt Manor was home for 38 years. During that time Annamae worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. and St. Peters Home for Children in Peekskill, NY. Annamae loved her family very much and always enjoyed any opportunity for a family gathering, especially during holidays and special occasions. She cooked many great meals and was always quick to offer a meal to her family, friends and guests alike. She had a special soft spot in her heart for babies and children, often showering them with affection and offering their parents a helpful hand through providing child care. Annamae's kindness was remarkable and she always had something positive to say about others.

Annamae is survived by her children, Patricia Silva Kelley of Flemington, NJ (husband, Bobby Kelley); Celeste Silva of Yonkers, NY; Leon Silva, Jr. of Charlotte, NC (wife, Yvonne); and Lisa Silva of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren Tiffani Silva, Brian Silva, Nicole Overton, Crystal Silva and Taylor Mont; great-grandson Cayden Washington and a host of other loving relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Silva in 2005, her daughter, Lynette Silva Overton in 2002, son-in-law, Arthur Overton in 2011, her sisters Margaret, Julia, Maude, Johnamae, Annie, Betty and her brother James.

Viewing will be held Tuesday February 26, 2013, Jeremiah Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. where family will receive friends 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 10 am, at St. Columbanus Church, 124 Oregon Road, Peekskill, NY. Entombment, Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY.
