James Albert Johnson, 60, died on February 23, 2013 after a long illness. JJ was born on August 24, 1952, in Stony Point, NY, where he lived until he moved to Grand Lake, Colorado after graduating from North Rockland High School and attending Rockland Community College. He was a long time resident of Colorado and Washington State. For the past several years he lived in Reno, NV with his brother, Albert, who was a devoted and generous brother. He recently moved to Pine Bush, NY, near his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Cathy, who also lovingly helped with his care. He was a talented carpenter, an avid skier, a gifted storyteller and a faithful friend. He loved to travel.
He was the son of Albert A. Johnson of Hopewell Junction, NY, formerly principal of the James A. Farley Middle School in Stony Point, and the late Patricia Mack Johnson. He was predeceased by his older brother, William (BJ), and is survived by BJ's widow Kate and his brothers Robert and wife Linda; Richard; Gerald and wife Cathy; Albert; his sister Mary Dorritie, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be at the Edward C. Finn Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Stony Point on Thursday, February 28 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A brief memorial service will be held there on Friday, March 1 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.org).
